Fuel Off-Road is a company I started following several years back. At the time I remember searching for a wheel that was built tough enough to handle a beating, but stylish too. It’s easy to fall in to the same old rut with wheels, and before you know it, all wheels end up basically looking the same. That is exactly what attracted me to Fuel. Great designs, without compromising quality.
Fast forward until today. Fuel Off-Road has just released a brand new wheel, The Unit. Following the philosophy of the past, you’ll find that The Unit is a wheel second to none. It looks amazing sure, but as you get into the manufacturing of the wheel you will quickly gain a real appreciation for quality of the build. The design is aggressive, and the bead ring looks impossible to destroy. The Unit comes in two colors. A matte black that will add a subtle, but strong look to the stance of your rig, and for those that are looking to be noticed, you are definitely going to want the candy red!
I have to admit, I’m more of a…”leave the specs to the professionals” kinda guy, but for those wheel nerds that love this kind of information, here you go.
I have only had The Unit on my Jeep for a short time, and haven’t had the opportunity to hit the rocks and beat them up yet. I did manage to air those tires down to about 8psi and take a potholed filled, washboarded trail that normally makes me feel like I’m driving with no suspension and stone tires though. It was so much nicer of a ride…day and night difference. I guess that would be the biggest benefit of a bead lock wheel for the overland style off-roader, right? Well that and the peace of mind of knowing you are good to go if need be.
At the end of the day you want a wheel that is going to look great, protect your tires, and hold up to whatever kind of adventure you are into. Fuel Off-Road have built their reputation on forward thinking styles, and a durable, well manufactured products. They will look great and on your rig, and you won’t have to give their performance a second thought. Check out the full Fuel off-Road catalog at fueloffroad.com
