I am one of many people that love watches. Specifically, I’m a field and diver watch fan. In my opinion those two types of purpose built watches best represent adventure, and I am all about adventure. Why watches though? What is it about watches that are so interesting and addictive? There is a general idea in the industry that watches are men’s best accessory. That may be true, however in my case specifically, I have this unconventional relationship with time. That is another story for another time though.
A few years back I first discovered this brand named Vero Watch Company. At face value the brand seemed to make nice, outdoor inspired watches that won’t financially require you to sign over your first born child to purchase one. The more I looked into the brand, the more there was to like. I found out the founder is a fellow Jeep guy. He loves outdoor adventure as much as anyone and truly found a passion in creating watches that become a part of each owner’s life story, and that is pretty cool. He loved nature and being a good steward of it. More and more I found myself aligning with his value system toward the outdoors, which in turn created this sense of wanting to be a part of his brand. I wanted to support him on his mission to bring the world well made watches that are meant to live on your wrist, but buying a Vero, and that is when I bought my first Vero watch.
2023 gave birth to a new collection from Vero Watch Company. The founder took his passion for caring about nature and put his money where his mouth is. Vero licensed the US Forest Service likeness to create a line of watches that gave us outdoor enthusiasts a way to be connected to the outdoors through our watches, as well as having that purchase directly contribute to the funding of the USFS.
Although there are a couple USFS designs, I gravitated directly to the Workhorse. I own one of the originals and that watch has become one of my favorite adventure watches in my collection. There are a couple differences between the original Workhorse and the US Forest Service edition though, so let me break down the best features of my new favorite adventure watch…the USFS Workhorse.
There are 4 color choices to choose from. There is the gray dialed all yellow Hot Shot, an orange/red dial on a smoke gray case and strap called the Airtanker, a black dialed green Service Green, and the one that I bought called the Ranger. All models are made exactly the same so you just have choose the color you want.
