The Workhorse: Built for Exploration from Vero Watch Company

It has been a long time since I sat down to write anything, let alone a spotlight piece about a watch. When you find something great, however, you want to share it with your friends.

Several months back I decided to pull the trigger on buying an adventure watch. I’ve been wanting a watch built tough with a rugged look for about a year. I couldn’t really find one that drew me in and wasn’t over priced. A watch that I could rely on, had style, and comfort for every day use. That’s when I stumbled across a cool little brand named Vero Watch Company on Instagram.

Vero is a small brand that’s driven by passion for watchmaking. The Workhorse has a tough feel without being heavy, and bulky. Pretty important If you plan on wearing the watch every day.

Vero Watch Company was established in 2015 in Portland, Oregon and have been in the watch game for a long time making parts for other watch brands. The drive for creation was too strong though, Vero decided they should be producing watches for themselves and everything changed from there for the company. With a passion for watch collecting, and over 30 years experience in the business Vero is committed to great watches at a price point just about anyone can afford.

Vero has designed and produced several models to enjoy, but it’s The Workhorse that had me at first site. The style was different. It was rugged, but not too oversized. It was modern, yet still kept a tactical look and feel. In fact, I have owned a lot of watches over the years and the Vero Workhorse is an adventure that I’ve never seen. Check out these specs straight from the horse’s mouth. (See what I did there? Workhorse…straight from the horse’s mouth…never mind).

Although the 49.5mm lug to lug size might make you think The Workhorse is larger than you’d like to go, but trust me, the round case gives it an extra comfortable wear. Vero picked the perfect strap for the Workhorse too. Made from nylon, the nato style strap is the most comfortable type of strap on the market. Secured with velcro, the strap locks on and doesn’t come off until you choose to remove it. My only critique is being a bigger guy, I could use a little bit more length on that strap, but all in all it still wears comfortably on my wrist.

At the end of the day, Vero Watch Company has designed and manufactured an awesome daily wearer, built for adventure. From the cerakoted case and the nylon strap, all the way down to the built tough Seiko movement, the Workhorse has quickly become my “go to” watch. The style, reliability, and comfort makes this a great watch for any outdoorsman.
